Renaissance Ballroom Dance Studios Class Levels and DescriptionsBeginning I:We will introduce you to a variety of dance styles, familiarize you with the rhythm and beat integral to each, and help you to learn a few basic steps. These classes are perfect for the beginning dancer, the dancer who's a little out of practice, or anyone who would like to become more comfortable moving to the music.
Tuesday Level I classes run for six weeks, from 7:00 - 8:00pm.
Beginning II:This six week series of lessons is designed for students who are already well acquainted with the basics of dance. We will begin incorporating technique and working with ever more complex patterns.
Tuesday Level II classes run for six weeks, from 8:00 - 9:00pm.
Intermediate/Advanced:Dancers who have two or more years' previous experience are invited to challenge themselves with the Intermediate and Advanced series, which· run on Thursdays, 7:00pm to 8:00pm, for two consecutive calendar months and delve further into the nuance of individual dances. The pace is faster, the patterns increasingly difficult, and the focus less on the mechanics of movement and more on the indefinable alchemy that transforms "steps" into "dance."
Our Thursday classes are geared towards the dancer that is Intermediate, or has at least had 2 years of Group Classes with us.· This year we are offering several different styles of dances, such as International Standard and Latin.· In those cases, since most of our students have not studied those styles, we will be starting with the basics; however, we do not recommend these for true beginning level students.· The Thursday classes run in a 2 month rotation.
To be comfortable in these classes, especially if you are new to our tutelage, it is imperative to know the basic patterns for the class you wish to take and to be reasonably acquainted with whatever changes in rhythm the dance may contain. If you are unsure which level of instruction is best for you, please feel free to contact Michelle or Chris for discussion.
Mondays are "Dance du jour!" 7:00 pm: Each week we are offering a Basic class, in a variety of dances. This will give you a taste of many different dances. Each week will cover 1 - 3 basic steps, and get you comfortable with the basic rhythm and timing.
Tuesday Review Sessions - starting February 7, 2012:6:15 - 6:45 pm $4.00 p/p, or 1 "punch" on your Group Class Card, or INCLUDED in the "Unlimited Pass."These 30 minute Review Sessions are for those students who missed the previous week, and want to get caught up, and/or, for students who feel that an extra half hour, prior to the start of the new class, will help them remember was taught the week before, and be "warmed up" for class. These will allow for the Tuesday night classes to move more quickly, and for better retention of class material.
