| Renaissance Ballroom Dance Studios Class Levels and Descriptions Intro: These classes are perfect for the brand new dancer, or the dancer who's a little rusty. They are designed to get you familiar with each dance style, hear the beat and rhythm of each dance, and learn a few basic steps. Our "Intro" classes are 3 weeks long, and will help you feel comfortable moving to music, and start to enjoy couples dancing. Beginning 1: These class series are also 3 weeks long, and they begin where the Intro classes left off. They will take the information from the Intro classes, and move forward with more patterns. These classes are great for newer dancers, and for those who've taken classes elsewhere, and want to see where they fit. Beginning 2: These classes will begin to challenge you. The classes are 6 weeks long, the patterns will be somewhat harder, and we will incorporate Technique into the patterns as well. The Beginning 2 classes will help you to break out, and begin to really feel like a dancer. These classes are not designed for brand new dancers, they are meant for those who've had some dance experience, and feel extremely comfortable with the basics of the dance listed. Technique of: The Technique classes are normally 3 weeks long, and are geared to those students who want to accelerate their learning process! They are valuable for all levels of dancer, including those in Intro or Beginning 1 classes. Each "Technique of" series will focus on a specific topic of dance. These classes are where you will learn HOW to dance each dance! Intermediate/Advanced: These classes will progress at a faster pace, and will involve not only more patterns, but more complicated patterns. The focus will be on “how” to dance, not just steps, and we will go into more detail of the nuances which make couple’s dancing so irresistible. These classes are appropriate for students who have danced the dance listed for at least 12 months; they are not designed for brand new dancers, (See Intro and Beginning level classes for that). To feel comfortable in these classes, especially if you have not taken classes from us before, you will definitely need to know all of the basic patterns for the class you are planning to take, and be comfortable with changes in rhythm (if applicable). If you are unsure as to whether this level of class is right for you, talk with Chris or Michelle. Questions??? Call us at 503-722-9922, or email us at chris@renaissanceballroomdance.com |
